CHEA Accepts COAMFTE Compliance Report

At the March 9, 2015 meeting, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) Committee on Recognition accepted the compliance report from the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE). COAMFTE’s recognition by CHEA is for ten years (2014-2024). CHEA’s purpose is quality assurance of higher education through accreditation and in this role, it provides a “seal of approval” for COAMFTE. COAMFTE has been recognized by CHEA since 2003 as ensuring quality in marriage and family therapy higher education. The renewal of recognition is a re-affirmation of COAMFTE’s excellence in upholding quality assurance standard and a testament of high quality of education in COAMFTE accredited programs! Graduate Achievement Data (GAD)

The Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Consistent with CHEA Recognition Standards, accreditation organizations must establish standards that require accredited programs ‘to provide consistent information about academic quality and student achievement and thus to foster continuing public awareness, confidence, and investment’ (Recognition of Accrediting Organizations: Policy and Procedures p.4). COAMFTE has established Accreditation Standards that require programs to report on graduate achievement. Additionally, COAMFTE collects Graduate Achievement data on graduation rates, job placement rates, and licensure rates. Accredited programs are required to report Graduate Achievement Data on an annual basis.
